STATE COLLEGE – The Voice of Penn State Sports and afternoon host here on WKOK has won a prestigious broadcasting award. WKOK’s host of the Steve Jones Show has been named the winner of the 2017 Warner Fusselle Award for Broadcast Excellence as the top broadcaster in the New-York Penn League.
Jones was the voice of the State College Spikes since its inception in 2006. The award is given annually by the NYPL to the radio/TV or video streaming broadcaster whose work is deemed exemplary.
Jones says the award is a great honor, “Any award that’s named after someone I respected so much in the legendary Warner Fusselle means a lot to me. I’ve also been very fortunate in my career. I’ve been attached to so many first class organization, like Sunbury Broadcasting, Penn State, and of course the State College Spikes.”
Jones continues to serve as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Spikes, Penn State Football and Men’s Basketball on WKOK. You can listen to the Steve Jones Show 3-5 p.m. weekdays on WKOK. (Matt Catrillo)
