Villanova coach Jay Wright returns to Bucknell talking social media responsibility

LEWISBURG – The dangers and temptations of social media are certainly prominent in today’s society. Bucknell University special alum, Villanova men’s basketball coach Jay Wright, was back on campus as a guest speaker for the university’s Walling Speaker Series discussing this and other topics.

Wright, a 1983 Bucknell graduate, says there’s no doubt social media is a big part of society and even coaching.

But Wright says he and his staff still teach their players how to be responsible using it, “The night before games, we do take their devices away from them, so when they go to sleep, they’re not up all night on Twitter or Instagram. We follow every player on Twitter, but I tweet myself, so it’s just something you have to be responsible about.”

The annual Walling series invites distinguished alumni back to Bucknell to discuss their career experience and path to leadership. Wright was the third of five speakers in this year’s series. Wright led Villanova to a National Championship in 2016. (Matt Catrillo/Zach Kline)
