NORTHUMBERLAND – A Valley railroad has received national recognition for marketing and business development. Nittany and Bald Eagle Railroad, operated by North Shore Railroad of Northumberland, is one of three winners of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association Marketing Award for their project with Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad.
The joint effort between the two short lines developed new service between Pleasant Gap and Homer City, Pennsylvania. The award recognizes railroads that design and enact innovative and successful marketing intitiatives in the small railroad industry. There are more than 550 short lines operating across the country. North Shore operates six short line railroads with 85 employees across the system.
