BLOOMSBURG — US Congressman Lou Barletta will be visiting the Columbia County Flood Risk Management project Friday, in Bloomsburg. The nearly $30 million project, which he, and US Senators Pat Toomey (R) and Bob Casey (D) from PA, supported, protects about 700 jobs in Bloomsburg and was the recipient of the largest grant in the history of the Philadelphia Regional Office of the EDA (Economic Development Administration).
Rep Barletta and other local officials will be getting a tour of the nearly 1 mile long, 16 foot high flood wall which was completed in October, 2016. The height of the flood wall measures at 1.5 feet above the highest flood on record.
The project was strongly supported by Barletta and others because flooding continued to threaten Autoneum, a global technology company that employs almost 700 people in Columbia County, which places them among the biggest private employers in the county.
The tour will begin in the Autoneum North America parking lot in Bloomsburg at 10:15am.
