SELINSGROVE – A workshop is coming up for Valley parents to come and share their experiences of the challenge of raising children in today’s world. The Union-Snyder Community Action Agency is hosting a ‘Parent Café’ Monday, June 25 at its Selinsgrove location on Bridge Street.
It will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Emily Mrusko, Development Director, “We’re following the structure from an organization called ‘These Strong Families.’ So they came up with this parent café structure that creates a really safe space for parents to just come together and talk about issues they face raising children.”
One of the workshops that will be held during the café is ‘From Society to Sociability.’ Mrusko says it’s a workshop focused on raising children in age of social media and technology, “This will be an opportunity for parents to get together and just talk about best practices and how much screen time is healthy…we know technology is good for kids but there’s a fine balance.”
