LEWISBURG – For Union County residents looking to get back on their feet, get employment or receive some counseling, there’s now a one-stop place to go for help. The new Union County Resource Center is set to open Thursday. Organizers will be hosting an open house from 2-6 p.m. at the new location on Hafer Road in Lewisburg.
Susie Weller, Education and Employment Director, says the resource center was asked by the Union County Commissioners in January to add more programs to what was the old ‘Day-Reporting Center,’ “We’ve been working on that for a number of months. We have employment skills, GED classes, parenting classes, financial literacy, computer skills, job search, and we have a case coordinator on staff.”
Weller also says a goal of the new resource center is to expand beyond The Valley, “We’ve been working very hard to make that happen, to open it up to the broader community, and not just Union County. If anybody comes to our door and they need help, we are more than willing to do what we can for them.” You can hear more from Weller at WKOK.com, she was on a recent WKOK Sunrise interview.
