Weather will be cool by Sunday’s opening.

Sunbury Ice Rink opening for the year

SUNBURY— It doesn’t feel like ice skating weather right now, but it is… If you like to ice skate, then Sunbury has a place for you. The Sunbury Youth and Community Center Ice Rink is opening Sunday.  The ice rink is open to the public, and they also host college hockey as well.

Carl Yoder, Maintenance Supervisor said they are ready for a new year, “We are generally open to the public…we open on October 1st, we also have college hockey here, which would be Susquehanna University and also Bucknell University.”

Yoder also talked about how the location of the ice rink makes it easily accessible for the community, “Ice skating is fun, the facility has been here since 1960, we do a lot of work to keep it a nice facility for the public and it’s a nice walking distance in the city of sunbury for the youth to get here.”
