WINFIELD – A long-awaited improvement project at the railroad crossing on Route 15 will finally begin next week. PennDOT says the railroad crossing upgrade on Route 15 at Route 304 in Winfield will begin Monday. Crews will work 24 hours a day through Friday, June 22. Traffic will be restricted to a single lane in each direction.
Work is part of a multiple roadway improvement project in Union County that’s expected to be completed in early October. The project includes Maple Street and Route 104 in Mifflinburg, 8th Street/Grand Valley Road in Mifflinburg and West Buffalo Township.
It also includes Routes 204 and 304 in New Berlin, Route 15 in Union Township and Kelly Township. Work expected to be done includes milling and paving, pavement markings, new handicapped accessible curb ramps, guide rail upgrades, and bridge repairs.
