TURBOTVILLE – Plans are underway for a new elementary school on the Warrior Run Middle and High School campus, that could lead to realigning the grades in the schools. Warrior Run School Area School District Superintendent Alan Hack tells us school board members unanimously approved hiring an architect to complete a master site plan for the campus. Hack says this planning process will determine traffic patterns, parking, future development, and phasing. Hack tells us he hopes this study will be completed by this spring.
There is no construction timetable yet. Hack says an estimated cost to build the new school is $28.5 million.
He says once the school is completed, it will initially house grades K-4. Eventually, Hack says the school district will look at configuring the new school to be K-6, with the high school becoming a 7-12 school.
There’s currently one elementary school in the district since the closing of Watsontown Elementary in the spring of 2016. Turbotville Elementary currently holds grades K-3. Fourth grade is held at Warrior Run Middle School.
