One man apprehended, one still at large in armed robbery

arrestSHAMOKIN DAM — One man has been arrested in an armed robbery at Sterners Coin Shop in Shamokin Dam. Michael Rodenizer of Beavertown was arrested after attempting to flee the scene with his accomplice who is still at large.

The two men entered the store, struck the owner of the shop with a pistol, and tied him up while they robbed the place. Despite original reports of gunshots being fired, Shamokin Dam PD tells WKOK that no shots were fired.

Rodenizer was apprehended after a brief car chase that resulted in a vehicle crash. The two perpetrators fled on foot with Rodenizer being caught, while the other male got away.

Rodenizer has not been charged yet, but he is in Snyder County prison on a parole violation. The shop owner was treated for minor injuries and released. (Christopher Elio)
