The tenth annual ArtFest will take place on Saturday, the 26th of August, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in its traditional location on Center Street between Main and Third Streets in downtown Bloomsburg. ArtFest showcases regional artists’ original work, accompanied by live music, local food, and activities for the whole family. A summertime art party, ArtFest draws attendees from throughout our region, and it draws artists from near and far as well. Exhibitors have included painters, photographers, potters, jewelers, sculptors, glass artists, fabric artists, woodworkers, and bonsai growers. We encourage interested artists to visit ExchangeArts.org to find out more about the application process; The Exchange will accept applications through Friday, the 2nd of June.
Activities for families at the event will include The Exchange’s Art Cart, using simple materials – many of them recycled – to help bring out the beauty inside every person. Well-known Bloomsburg musician Steve Gilliland will again perform and coordinate the rest of the musical entertainment, and attendees will find great food from vendors right on Center Street; we also encourage interested food vendors to apply.
This year, ArtFest takes place on the same day as AGAPEpalooza at Town Park, another family-friendly festival, with free shuttle buses among the downtown, the ‘Palooza, and free parking at Bloomsburg High School.
The Exchange thanks the Columbia-Montour Visitors Bureau and Downtown Bloomsburg, Inc., for their sponsorship of ArtFest; the event also receives support from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
