Diocese of Harrisburg Bishop Gainer coming to Valley for listening session

HARRISBURG – Bishop Ronald Gainer, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, is coming to the Valley for a listening session. The visit comes in wake of last summer’s Grand Jury Report on child sexual abuse by clergy. The Diocese says Bishop Gainer will be at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Parish in Elysburg Thursday, February 21. The session will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The Diocese says the bishop will be hosting listening sessions throughout the Diocese in January and February for anyone who has questions regarding the report. He’ll also address the Diocese’s response to abuse, its path going forward, or any other questions anyone may have.

Each session will include opening remarks from Bishop Gainer and retired Pennsylania State Police Capt. and Milton native Janet McNeal, who was recently hired to oversee youth protection efforts of the Diocese. The floor will be open for questions following those remarks. You can see a link here of when other listening sessions will be held.
