SUNBURY – We told you this week, the Needy Family Fund had topped $100,000 thanks to the Degenstein Challenge Grant. Now, an additional donation brings the total to $106,000.
BB&T reports that Blaise Alexander Ford made a big donation. The car dealer completed a promotion that included a portion of December auto sales going to the fund, so a $5,500 contribution was contributed this week. That brings all of the donations, which began coming in Thanksgiving weekend last year, up to $106,170.24.
This year, BB&T accepted and compiled the funding; the Daily Item and Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation promoted the fund, and the Salvation Army used the money to buy toys, food, clothing and gifts for 700 or more families.
