NEW BERLIN – Union County’s acting Treasurer has announced she’s running for the position. Cheryl Kahl is seeking the four-year term on the Republican ticket. She’s been acting treasurer since January 2018, after then Treasurer Dianna Weikel retired December 31, 2017 due to health reasons.
Kahl says she brings extensive customer service and financial skills to the position. Prior to becoming acting Treasurer, Kahl served four years in the Treasurer’s office, and nine years in community banking. During this past year, Kahl tells us, she instituted changes to record management and storage, and modernized outdated applications. She also reduced processing time for hunting licenses.
Kahl is a current member of Union County’s Salary Board and Retirement Board. She’s also a member of the National Treasurer’s Association and Union County Republican Committee.
